Recovery of the persistent current induced by the electron-electron interaction in mesoscopic metallic rings
نویسنده
چکیده
Persistent currents in mesoscopic metallic rings induced by static magnetic fields are investigated by means of a Hamiltonian which incorporates diagonal disorder and the electron-electron interaction through a Hubbard term (U). Correlations are included up to second order perturbation theory which is shown to work accurately for U of the order of the hopping integral. If disorder is not very strong, interactions increase the current up to near its value for a clean metal. Averaging over ring lengths eliminates the first Fourier component of the current and reduces its value, which remains low after interactions are included.

Bias-Induced Optical Absorption of Current Carrying Two-Orbital Quantum Dot with Strong Electron-Phonon Interaction (Polaron Regime)
The one photon absorption (OPA) cross section of a current carrying two-orbital quantum dot (QD) with strong electron-phonon interaction (polaron regime) is considered. Using the self-consistent non-equilibrium Hartree-Fock (HF) approximation, we determine the dependence of OPA cross section on the applied bias voltage, the strength of effective electron-electron interaction, and level spacing ...
متن کاملPersistent currents in mesoscopic Hubbard rings with spin-orbit interaction.
The effect of spin-orbit interaction on persistent currents in mesoscopic Hubbard rings threaded by an Aharonov-Bohm flux is investigated putting stress on the orbital magnetism. The non-perturbative treatment of the spin-orbit interaction developed by Meir et al. is combined with the Bethe ansatz solution to deal with this problem exactly. We find that the interplay of spin-orbit interaction a...
متن کاملOrbital magnetism of classically chaotic quantum systems
– We employ orbital magnetic response functions as a tool to investigate fluxdependent spectral correlations of chaotic quantum dots in the ballistic regime. We compare for the first time results for the persistent current and susceptibility from a semiclassical theory (without adjustable parameters) with accurate quantum-mechanical calculations for the case of an ensemble of chaotic rings thre...
متن کامل2 1 Ja n 20 02 Persistent Currents versus Phase Breaking in Mesoscopic Metallic Samples
Persistent currents in mesoscopic normal metal rings represent, even a decade after their first experimental observation, a challenge to both, theorists and experimentalists. After giving a brief review of the existing – experimental and theoretical – results, we concentrate on the (proposed) relationship of the size of the persistent current to the phase breaking rate. In particular, we consid...
متن کاملAharonov-bohm magnetization of mesoscopic rings caused by inelastic relaxation.
The magnetization of a system of many mesoscopic rings under nonequilibrium conditions is considered. The corresponding disorder-averaged current in a ring I(phi) is shown to be a sum of the "thermodynamic" and "kinetic" contributions both resulting from the electron-electron interaction. The thermodynamic part can be expressed through the diagonal matrix elements J(micro micro) of the current ...
